Kinesis Racelight KR-810 Carbon Frame
All Kinesis framesets are designed in the UK, for the dedicated enthusiast who knows exactly what he or she wants and is not prepared to settle for a generic mass-market bike.
The Racelight name stands for no compromise design, high performance and stunning value.
In 2000 we released our first 'Racelight' frame, designed for the club racer as an affordable upgrade to a quality alloy frame with carbon fork.
The cycling press rate the Racelight frames highly too: KiC - Best Buy, 9/10 - Cycling Plus. RC - Gold Award 2003 - Cycling Plus. RC2 - Performance 10, Value 10, Overall 10 -
roadcyclinguk.com 2006 T - 5/5 for performance and value - Cycling Weekly.
Kinesis International are the masters of aluminium frame technology, but they are also extremely experienced in the manufacture of carbon forks and components for their frames.
Cycling Plus verdict: "Currently one of the best sportive oriented frames available" 9/10
Although there are many manufacturers jumping on the ‘full carbon frame’ bandwagon, Kinesis International [in collaboration with Kinesis UK] have taken the time to develop their own unique and distinctive looking frame, and have not simply rushed another ‘carbon clone’ onto the market.
The ‘KR-810’ is a full monocoque design using super stiff 3k woven carbon. A monocoque frame does not use lugs that inevitably weaken and lead to frame failure. Monocoque construction ensures maximum stability, maximum reaction to force and maximum rigidity compared to classic glued or taped carbon fibre frames.
Care has been taken to tune the characteristics of the carbon lay-up to ensure stiffness, stability and response where it is required and yet enough compliance for rider comfort. The super-stiff ‘Kbox’ bottom bracket and ‘A-Frame’ seatstays are examples of this approach.
The geometry is ‘semi-compact’ [slightly sloping top tube on larger sizes, more slope on the smaller sizes] with 5 sizes and the weight is just over 1kg [for the 47cm c/t frame without fork]. The frame is not 'over stretched' and the riding position is not too 'nose down' making it ideal for longer distance and sportive events.
Kinesis have developed a specific 358g fork for this model the 'Tracer' with a unique ‘forward facing’ blade design and advanced profile, developed to provide absolute stability in turns and under braking.
The KR-810 was race condition tested for an entire season by the Kinesis UK team. We believe that this frameset offers the ultimate performance and value, race package but builds into a bike that gives comfort and position that is ideal for sportives.
